Ms. Kohatsu has twenty three years of experience in the civil engineering and materials testing fields. At Aztech, Claire has managed four NDOT Design Build projects including I-15 North Design Build, I-15 South Design Build, West Mesquite Interchange Design Build, and the ITS Design Build in the past five years. Claire has served as the Project Manager for over eighty Clark County Public Works projects in the past 17 years. Her duties have included assisting Clients with adherence to sampling and testing frequencies, monthly and weekly quality control testing summaries, quality assurance summaries, independent assurance assessments, and quality control plan documentation for various roadway, beltway, underground, and flood control projects.

Mr. McDonough has twenty-nine years of Las Vegas valley experience in the materials testing field encompasses multi-lane roadway, flood control, storm drain, water treatment facilities, and master planned communities. As the Project Manager, Mr. McDonough was responsible for the completion of materials testing on the Desert Inn Super Arterial in Las Vegas and State Route 160 in Pahrump. After many years of performing duties as a Field Technician and Project Manager, Mr. McDonough along with Mr. Paul Bunker developed and founded Aztech. The two partners were successful in achieving the laboratory’s AASHTO accreditation in its inaugural year and maintaining a NAQTC certified staff since its inception. Mr. McDonough possesses certifications from the American Concrete Institute (ACI), NAQTC, and the International Code Council (ICC).

Mr. Phan earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Mr. Phan has over seventeen years of wide breadth field and laboratory experience in the materials testing area. During his early work experiences as a Field and Laboratory Technician, Mr. Phan attained WAQTC (Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction) and NAQTC certifications and then was elevated to be the Laboratory Manager. For the past five years, Mr. Phan has performed asphalt mix design services for several suppliers in the Las Vegas valley. His hands-on experience in the field and laboratory provides a valuable broad base of knowledge in the materials discipline. Mr. Phan regularly handles management services for many of the Valley’s largest projects. He is also the Engineering manager for CCDDS-BD projects in Clark County. His specific duties included the inspection and quality assurance services for all soil, concrete, and asphalt.

Travis earned his Bachelors of Science in Economics & Finance from Utah State University. Travis has 7+ years of experience in the construction materials and non-destructive testing industry. Travis serves as Aztech’s operations manager. His main duties include oversite of all company finances and general operations. His other duties include NDT Division Manager, estimator, and project manager. Notable projects Travis served as project Manager, Resorts World X-Ray, LAS Fuels Pipeline NDT, Air Liquide Liquid Hydrogen Plant NDT, ORMAT Geothermal NDT, 215 Widening Tropicana to Charleston, & Ft. Apache Rd. Alexander to 215.

Mr. Rios has 13 years of experience in construction materials quality control testing. His primary laboratory responsibilities are materials testing applicable to concrete, soil, aggregate, asphalt, and rebar testing. Mr. Rios is responsible for maintaining the laboratory’s AASHTO, CCRL, USACE, and ADOT accreditations. Mr. Rios certifications include the American Concrete Institute (ACI), NAQTC, CalTrans (CT), and Arizona Technical Testing Institute (ATTI). He also serves on the local ACI Board of Directors, is the Chairman of the ACI Membership Committee, and is an ACI Supplemental Examiner. Mr. Rios has conducted asphalt mix designs and concrete trial batches for several suppliers in the Las Vegas Valley and Bullhead City, Arizona.
